eThermo System

Customer challenge

As a vehicle or mobile machine manufacturer, you need to implement an efficient thermal management solution (heating and/or cooling) for HV batteries, electrical components or cabins for an electric vehicle (eTruck), an electric mobile machine (e.g. eTractor) or electrically powered superstructures, attachments or trailers.

In addition to the suitable HV components (eCompressor, eHeater), all components must be selected, interconnected to form an overall solution and controlled depending on the operating mode.

System description

The Kinell ethermo system offers a validated and easy-to-integrate HV electrically powered thermal management solution for electrical applications. It includes:

  • a pre-assembled and validated heat pump for active cooling.
  • a dedicated control unit for simple system integration and decentralized control of the thermal system.
  • a LV wiring harness for networking and supplying all internal components and for connection to the vehicle.
  • the HV cable for connection to the vehicle PDU.
  • the integrated software for controlling the functions, such as return heating (heating of circuit 1 with return from circuit 2), active heating (heating of circuit 1 with additional water pump and optional eHeater) and cooling (circuit 2 with additional optional air/water cooler)

Integrated thermal management functions

Dedicated thermal management controller, which receives the higher-level TM instructions from the eVehicle and handles the decentralized control functions of the eThermo system such as energy management, active functions (discharging) and error handling.

simple and flexible integration

The system solution includes all necessary active and passive components and is available either as a component kit for space-optimized system integration or as a pre-assembled and pre-tested package for easy installation.

Optional extensions

An additional radiator on the condenser side allows cooling without heat input into the eVehicle and an additional HV heater allows a higher heating cable.

Single point of contact

Defined responsibility for the components contained in the system, the system functions and the interfaces to the eVehicle / eImplement.
