Accelerate your transition with Kinell
Our teams support you in the design and integration of hydrogen, hybrid or all-electric solutions tailored to your uses and regulatory constraints.
At Kinell, we develop and integrate low-carbon marine propulsion systems through concrete projects carried out in collaboration with shipowners, shipyards, equipment manufacturers and partners.
From feasibility studies to commissioning, our teams work on hydrogen, hybrid and all-electric projects in river, coastal and maritime navigation, with an approach based on usage, safety and regulatory compliance.
Each project is based on bespoke engineering, expertise in maritime constraints and ongoing dialogue with classification societies to ensure technically robust and operationally viable solutions.
Ces projets illustrent notre capacité à concevoir et intégrer des systèmes de propulsion décarbonés complexes, certifiables et adaptés à des usages exigeants.

The maritime industry faces a dual challenge: reducing its CO₂ emissions and offering reliable alternatives to traditional combustion engines.
In addition to detailed case studies, Kinell is involved in numerous carbon-free propulsion projects in Europe (research, integration, and technical support).
Commissioned in Bordeaux as part of the development of sustainable river navigation, Va Petit Mousse is an electric vessel designed for passenger transport in urban areas. Inspired by a historic boat dating from the late 19th century, it continues a tradition of family outings in the Jardin Public while meeting today’s challenges of quietness, energy efficiency and zero local emissions.
Developed as a racing-cruising monohull by Black Pepper Yachts, Code 0.1 illustrates the integration of electric propulsion on a pleasure yacht with a strong design identity. This project highlights the compatibility of electric solutions with high-performance units, without compromising on aesthetics or sailing sensations.
Based on an iconic production sailboat, this Jeanneau Sun 2500 has undergone an electrical retrofit to extend the vessel’s lifespan. This transformation is part of a circular economy approach, reducing the environmental footprint while preserving the boat’s seaworthiness.

Operating on the Loire network, the Val d’Armor unit has been equipped with an instrumentation and energy monitoring system. This device makes it possible to analyse performance in real operating conditions and to begin considering the design of future units.
Conducted in an educational setting, this hybrid project enables students at Les Catalins High School to learn about modern propulsion architectures. It provides a practical platform for learning about on-board energy management, hybrid systems and the challenges of decarbonising river transport. Kinell selected the most suitable components for use on this vessel in an educational setting.
Kinell is involved in next-generation maritime hydrogen projects, integrating complex and certifiable electro-hydrogen architectures. These projects concern professional and experimental vessels subject to stringent safety, autonomy and regulatory compliance requirements.
Among the flagship references are Dhamma Sea and PROMETEO, two maritime catamarans incorporating advanced hydrogen systems. These projects illustrate Kinell’s expertise in the design of innovative energy architectures, the integration of H₂ systems on board and regulatory support for classification societies.
