Quiet, low-carbon energy for hire companies, events, construction and hybrid power applications, delivering scalable power and fuel savings across Europe.

Kinell, part of the Fétis Group, today announces its expansion into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), working in collaboration with POWR2, a North American specialist in mobile energy storage, marking a significant step in the Group’s development of clean, flexible solutions for temporary power applications across Europe. The new energy range will be supplied throughout the European Union from Kinell facilities in France and Germany and is designed to meet the evolving needs of rental companies, live events, construction sites and other users of temporary and off-grid energy.
The launch builds on Kinell’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, offering quiet, low-emission power solutions that can be deployed either as a stand-alone alternative to traditional diesel generators or in hybrid configurations alongside them. These solutions address growing demand for lower-carbon energy, reduced noise and the elimination of exhaust fumes.
Kinell’s battery energy storage systems are built on POWR2’s proven mobile battery platforms, with battery fleets already deployed across Europe. The north American manufacturer has appointed Kinell official distributor and service partner for the European Union to accelerate growth. This partnership combines POWR2’s proven battery technology with Kinell’s deep understanding of European temporary power markets, applications and customer requirements.
“Europe is an important market for mobile and hybrid energy storage,” said Hudson Nunn, VP of Revenue at POWR2. “Partnering with Kinell allows our technology to be delivered with strong local expertise, service capability, and market understanding.”
The range begins with compact systems delivering energy capacities from 15 kVA of power and 60 kWh to 300 kVA of power and 600 kWh, with scalable configurations allowing multiple units to be combined for higher output or longer operating duration.
“Fétis Group companies have been active in site power and energy generation markets for more than 40 years,” explains John Hegarty, Manager of Kinell’s energy activities. “We have worked across thousands of temporary power applications, and more recently we have run pilot projects with customers using battery energy storage systems through our group company GeniWatt. That hands-on experience has given us real confidence in the quality, competitiveness and market fit of these solutions. It also means we can advise customers very clearly on system sizing, integration and operating modes, so they can deploy reliable, efficient power solutions with confidence.”
Beyond the environmental benefits, advanced energy management systems (EMS) embedded in each unit provide remote monitoring, reporting and control. This gives rental companies and contractors clear visibility on energy usage, fuel savings and emissions performance, supporting both operational excellence and sustainability reporting.
A key advantage of Kinell’s BESS offering is its suitability for hybrid operation. When combined with traditional diesel generators, battery systems can take on a significant share of the load, reducing generator run time, lowering fuel consumption and cutting CO2 emissions. This hybrid approach also extends generator service intervals and helps reduce overall operating costs.
Similarly, the BESS products are highly suitable for integration with renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic panels or wind turbines. The EMS can be configured to maxmise self-consumption by prioritising the direct use of locally generated renewable energy.
This launch marks a further expansion of the Fétis Group’s Kinell brand, reinforcing its ambition to structure its activities around a single strong international brand dedicated to decarbonisation across its key markets, including site power, off-highway machines and professional marine, alongside a range of digital, engineering and maintenance services. With demand for cleaner, smarter temporary power solutions accelerating across Europe, Kinell’s energy range positions the Group at the forefront of the energy transition for temporary and off-grid applications.
